Ideagarden Institute Promotes Cheyenne Pritchard to Executive Director

Food systems leader steps into expanded role at Ideagarden Institute, deepening a long commitment to stewarding ventures that nourish people, restore ecological health, and grow resilient food systems for communities to flourish.
Healdsburg, CA — As the urgency to reshape our local and global food systems intensifies, Ideagarden Institute is evolving to meet the moment. The organization is excited to announce the appointment of Cheyenne Pritchard as Executive Director. This leadership transition marks a strategic milestone for the nonprofit, as it deepens its commitment to empowering the next generation of social ventures that understand food systems' role as a critical lever for planetary health, rural economic development, social equity and well-being, and community resilience.
Ideagarden Institute is a 501(c)(3) social venture incubator and nonprofit fiscal sponsor that identifies high-potential food systems leaders addressing unmet needs at the intersection of food, climate, and well-being, and provides the early-stage infrastructure they need to grow.
Ideagarden Institute’s portfolio includes three women-led enterprises and a catalytic grant award:
Plant Futures is a social venture committed to accelerating the transition to a
plant-centric world for planetary, human, and animal well-being. Plant Futures equips and empowers the next generation of student leaders with the education, experience, and network to become effective changemakers.
Climate Farm School is a leading on-farm, evidence-based, farmer-led experiential learning program designed for those ready to join the community leading food systems transformation.
FARMpreneurs enhances the success, profitability, and resilience of community-based farming businesses through entrepreneurial education programs, including the flagship week-long Strategic Sprint — an executive retreat where farmers develop strategic plans, leadership skills, and collaborative networks to become changemakers in sustainable food systems.
The Greg Steltenpohl Pragmatic Visionary Award celebrates innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers building a more positive, plant-centric food system. With up to $100,000 in annual prizes, the award honors vision in action and values manifested through ventures that generate personal, community, and planetary health.
Collectively, the organization nurtures a growing community of hundreds of students, farmers, professionals, nonprofit partners, and more.
Ideagarden Institute operates under the philosophy that the most transformative food system solutions are cultivated to grow with nature’s natural systems and seasons. By moving away from the "win-at-all-costs" mentality often found in traditional venture capital structures, Ideagarden Institute offers a dedicated growth environment that prioritizes leaders and ideas embodying values of regeneration, reciprocity, and patience.
"Cheyenne has been a vital part of our ecosystem, moving through it as a student, a consultant, and now, as principal leader," said Will Rosenzweig, co-founder of Ideagarden Institute, who will transition to the role of Executive Board Chair. "Her promotion is a testament to the fact that we are growing something intended to last beyond its founders. Cheyenne brings a rare combination of academic rigor, international field experience, and a deep, intuitive understanding of what it takes to guide regenerative ideas from seed to reality."
Pritchard, who holds a Master of Public Health from UC Berkeley, joins the role with nearly a decade of experience working at the intersection of food systems, community well-being, and climate. Her background ranges from international teaching as a Fulbright Teaching Fellow in Brazil to business development in climate finance, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach Ideagarden champions.

"At Ideagarden Institute we envision a food future that protects our soil and water, that honors the farmers and farmworkers stewarding the land, that brings people together around a table, and that offers nutritional and delicious food for everyone. My focus as Executive Director is two-fold: deepening what we offer our portfolio founders so they can do the work that matters with intention and efficiency, and expanding our pipeline through entrepreneurial design sprints and new early-stage ideas in California and beyond," Pritchard said.
Ideagarden Institute is actively seeking partnerships with aligned founders and organizations ready to do this work differently. By mid-2027, the Institute aims to fund new SEED-stage ideas and welcome additional programs into its portfolio. Ideagarden Institute is interested in all ideas at the intersection of food, climate, and well-being, but is particularly exploring bioregional models, water quality related to food production, and farmer profitabiliy and longevity.
As Rosenzweig shifts his focus to governance and mentorship, he will continue to support the Institute’s evolution and coach portfolio Founders, ensuring that the organization remains anchored in the principles of reciprocity, patience, and systemic change that have defined its work since its inception in 2021.
